Swedish Endowed Professor Chair
In March 2015, a chair program was inaugurated at ITA (Instituto Tecnológico da Aeronáutica), which made it possible for four leading academics from Linköping University, Chalmers University of Technology and the Royal Institute of Technology to come to the universities on a regular basis.
The professor chair program includes joint education, bilateral research, support for the research & innovation agenda in the aeronautics sector and expansion of cooperation to other sectors. Due to its success, the activities have already been expanded to other teaching and research institutions such as the Federal University of Santa Catarina, the University of São Paulo, USP São Carlos, UNICAMP and the Federal University of ABC.
Over the years, the program has proved to be an excellent instrument for advances in aeronautical cooperation, with important results in bilateral projects and spillover to other sectors.
Due to the success of the Program, in November 2022 it was expanded and the first Chair in Artificial Intelligence was announced for Professor Fredrik Heintz of Linköping University. The focus of this new chair is to establish, strengthen and deepen collaboration with leading Brazilian AI researchers and companies, connecting them with Sweden, one of the most innovative countries in the world.
