CISB

In March 2012, CISB and CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of developing and strengthening international collaboration in the field of scientific and technological research by launching joint calls for projects.

Through a specific agreement signed with Saab AB, post-doctoral and doctoral-sandwich scholarships are offered in Sweden to researchers in Brazil in the aeronautical sector. This specific agreement was renewed in November 2022.

To date, 8 joint calls have been launched between CISB, CNPq and Saab AB, with a total of more than 450 project applications and 61 scholarships in Sweden awarded to researchers (36 post-doctoral and 25 sandwich doctoral) from 23 institutes and/or universities in Brazil. On the Swedish side, 9 universities and/or research institutes received the visiting researchers.

As well as having the chance to develop their projects at universities of excellence in Sweden, the awarded researchers were able to carry them out in conjunction with Saab AB, gaining international experience, leveraging Brazil-Sweden research networks, and contributing to industrial innovation through the university-industry relationship.

In addition to significant academic results, with more than 80 joint scientific publications, many of the researchers continue their collaboration through initiatives and programs such as STINT-CAPES, CNPq Special Visiting Professor, coordinated calls for innovation projects with funding agencies in both countries, partnerships between research laboratories in both countries, among others.

Continuing this successful partnership, as of December 2020, CISB, CNPq and Saab AB have launched special calls to select project proposals and financially support the mobility of researchers or startup representatives for a short period of time, usually one week. The aim is to facilitate the connection between researchers from Brazil and Swedish experts and researchers, and to structure collaborative projects between the two countries. This initiative will foster long-term collaborations and promote innovation between Brazilian and Swedish academia, research institutes and industry in various areas of knowledge (technology development or applied technology).
